What will I receive in the box?
We want to make sure you have everything you need when you start swimming with FORM!
When you open the box, you will find your goggles case, the charging cable, the mounting clip for the Polar Verity Sense or OH1/OH1 + and a document sleeve with the warranty and care information.
Inside the goggles case, you will find your goggles (of course!) and a card with seven alternative nose bridge sizes (XS, S, L, XL and two arched nose bridges) attached. The goggles come already fitted with the medium nose bridge.
Feel free to remove and recycle the plastic tray the goggles are sitting in – this tray is to protect your goggles during transit. You can also remove the nose bridges from the case once you’ve found the right size for you. Find out more about adjusting your goggles.
Once you have your goggles, you can start setting up your account!
How do I use the goggles’ buttons?
There are two buttons located on the display side of your goggles – the front button and the rear button.
The front button functions as the power button: hold it down for three to five seconds to turn the goggles on and off. This button also confirms menu items on the display.
The rear button is used to navigate the goggles’ menus by cycling through the menu items from left to right.
During a rest in your swim or at the end of a length, you can press the front button to pause the current swim. Pressing the rear button in Pool Swim mode will allow you to select a different dashboard. Pressing the rear button in Swim Spa mode will allow you to select a different speed to match the speed setting you are using in your swim spa.
If you are using a compatible smartwatch for open water swimming connected with the goggles, the buttons will not pause or end the swim; this must be done using the watch’s controls.
How do I update the goggles?
When an update is released, it may be a software update only (for the app) or a software and firmware update (for the goggles also).
If the update is for the app only, you can update your app by activating automatic updates for apps on your phone, or by visiting the app store to manually download the update.
For firmware updates, you will first need to download the app (software) update as mentioned. Once you have the latest version of the app on your phone, open the app and turn on your goggles nearby so that the app prompts you to allow the update. If the update is not offered to you through the app when you turn on the goggles, you can also trigger it by navigating to the My Goggles tab of the app then tapping on the “goggles settings” line where it says “update available”. The goggles’ display and the app screen will both indicate when the update is taking place.
What languages is FORM available in?
The goggles’ instructions, app and support content is only available in English at this time.
Can I edit my swim data?
Once the data from your swim is synced from your goggles to the app, the data cannot be edited or modified. If the data seems incorrect, you can find information on why this might have happened here. If you wish to flag an error in the data, you can tap the three dots in the top right corner of your swim, then “Report an error”. Please include as much detail as possible.
How do I pair different goggles to my app account?
Since you can only have one pair of goggles paired to your account at a time, if you get new goggles, you will need to unlink your current ones so that you can pair the new ones. The steps to do so are outlined below:
- Firstly, it is important that your FORM Swim App has the latest version installed. Ensure you update your app before pairing your new goggles.
- To unlink the previous goggles from the app, navigate to the Goggles tab of the app, select Goggles Settings then the three dots in the top right hand corner.
- Tap to unlink the goggles.
- Once you have done this and turned on the new pair, you will be invited to pair them to your app.
What metrics can I see while swimming?
There are many available metrics to see while swimming. The below list indicates what the metric is called in the FORM app, what it means and which mode(s) you can see it in. You can learn more about setting up your dashboards to see your desired metrics here.

What is auto-sync?
Auto-sync is an optional feature which, when toggled on, allows new updates to be automatically synced between your app and goggles when you have the FORM Swim App open. This includes:
- new swims
- adding or removing workouts
- updating firmware
- updating dashboards and settings
As long as you don’t close the app and your goggles and phone are within range and can connect, there is no need to turn on your goggles to sync.
Auto-sync uses slightly more battery power, but the app will pause the feature and notify you when your goggles are at 20% battery, giving you more than 3 hours swim time.
You can turn auto-sync on or off through the Goggles Settings tab in the app.
Do I need a smartwatch to be able to use the goggles?
No, a smartwatch is not required to use the goggles.
The goggles work great in the pool on their own. They track and display your metrics (including stroke rate, stroke count, distance, number of lengths, distance per stroke and pace).
You can also use the goggles on their own in open water. This lets you track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim.
In both the pool and open water, you can connect the Polar OH1/OH1 + or Verity Sense sensor to monitor your heart rate in real time.
You can connect a compatible smartwatch in open water to see time, distance, pace and heart rate* (*heart rate is not available when connected to a Garmin fenix 5 Plus).
Can I use the goggles if I need vision correction?
The goggles were made to be used by as many people as possible. The display is designed so you don’t have to adjust your focus away from your surroundings to read it.
If you are far-sighted (hyperopia/presbyopia), meaning you can see distant objects clearly, then you should be able to see the display in our goggles well. This includes people that use reading glasses.
If you are near-sighted (myopia), meaning you can see nearby objects clearly but distant objects are blurry, then your ability to see the display may be affected. If you are comfortable in the pool without corrective lenses it is likely you’ll be able to see the display in our goggles. However, if you need corrective lenses normally when you swim, then it’s likely you will need them to see the display. We do not have any plans currently to provide a prescription version of the goggles.
Other conditions such as astigmatism, glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc. may affect your ability to see the display.
The goggles are reversible, so you can try both eyes if one has better vision than the other.
Can I use the app without having a subscription or goggles?
Yes, you can! You don’t need to have your own pair of FORM goggles or subscription to create an account and follow your friends!
How do I change the display orientation or the display brightness?
The lens with the display can be configured for your left or right eye. By default, it’s set up for your right eye. If you wish to change it to the left eye, you can do this in the app (explained below) or through the goggles’ settings menu.
Likewise, the display brightness can be adjusted in the app (explained below) or through the goggles settings menu.
To change these settings in the app, select the ‘My Goggles’ tab and select ‘Goggles Settings’.
If the goggles are connected, the change should sync immediately. If the goggles aren’t connected, the change will take effect the next time you sync.
What is the battery life of the goggles?
Your FORM goggles can last up to 16 hours between charges! Because battery life is affected by how the device is used and other settings (including display brightness), the actual length of a charge will vary.
To preserve battery life, always be sure to power down your goggles once you’ve saved and synced your swim. If you forget, the auto-shutdown will kick in.
Charging the goggles
The charging cable provided in the box is for use with a USB port. The charging contacts on the cable are magnetic and will snap into place on the corresponding pins on the goggles. Before charging the goggles, ensure they are completely dry as the cable is not waterproof.
The app will tell you the percentage of charge on the goggles if you have the goggles turned on and navigate to the “my goggles” screen.
It should take roughly an hour to charge the goggles to 80% from 0%.
What strokes can be detected by the goggles?
Your goggles are able to detect the following four strokes:
-
Breaststroke
-
Butterfly
-
Backstroke
-
Freestyle
If you are using a compatible smartwatch for open water swimming connected with the goggles, the stroke detection will be coming from the watch. For details about which strokes are detected by your watch, please check with the manufacturer. For open water swimming, the connection between the goggles and the watch will work best when swimming freestyle.
How are calories calculated?
We use a proprietary algorithm, which takes into account the biometric information each swimmer enters in their profile in the FORM Swim App, as well as the swimming stroke and its intensity.
If you are using a compatible smartwatch for open water swimming connected with the goggles, calories are calculated by your watch.
Can I use the goggles in competition?
Our goggles are a great training and competition tool. They are not FINA approved but they may be usable during open water or triathlon races – we recommend checking with the organizers of the race you are participating in.

What units of measurement can I use?
You can change the units of measurement of your global stats by navigating to the cog in the home tab and choosing between metric and imperial.
The units shown in your individual swim activities, though, will be shown in metric or imperial based on whether the pool size you select is in yards or metres.
If you are using a compatible smartwatch for open water swimming connected with the goggles, the units displayed in the goggles will match the units you have chosen in the smart watch.
